Making Mosaics with Mums

Happy International Women's Day!!!

This morning I attended a Wellbeing Mosaic Workshop with LEAP (Lambeth Early Action Partnership) and Arts 4 Space. The session was full of mums, and childcare was provided by our local children's centre (we all took full advantage of our free time).

During the start of the session, we spoke about Art 4 Space's 5 tips on wellbeing:

1.Connect-connect with people around you and support each other.

2. Be active-Take care of your body, mind and try to stay positive.

3.Take notice- be aware of your surroundings. Reflecting on your experiences will allow you to appreciate what really matters

4. Keep learning-Learning and creating new things will help you feel confident and keep you inspired.

5.Give- Joining a community group can be very rewarding.

These tips resonated with many of the women in the group and we all spoke about what we are grateful for today; I am grateful for life. We also took part in an exercise where we had to draw each other without looking and then gift it to that person. Here's what was gifted to me (I love it! She didn't peek, promise):

And this is the one I drew:

All our materials were laid out for us ready to use:

We had intervals where a Tibetan was used to pause the group and take a few deep breathes; this was so calming.

It was actually really interesting how we all made completely different looking tiles even though we started with the same materials. As a finishing touch, the mosaics need to be grouted once they're dry. Today's session was very therapeutic, I really enjoyed myself!

After we all finished, our local children's centre made us Brunch which was a lovely gesture!

It's important to take some time out each day and focus on yourself; it can make a huge difference to your day.

Happy International Women's Day !!!
